Planting trees the Dane Bank way

The Dane Bank Green Space team enjoyed a packed weekend of tree planting.

The community team was on a mission to plant hundreds of trees on Saturday and Sunday during two family-friendly days.

The Saturday was for the planting of 70 semi-mature trees. Members of the community were invited to plant one of the trees for themselves with a sponsorship fee of £15 or of £25 for one of five mature birch trees.

Sunday was christened ‘Sapling Sunday’ with the planting of approximately 300 saplings taking place at the Windsor Fields green space off Windsor Road, Denton.

The group say the weekend went brilliantly and thank everyone for coming out and supporting and helping with the planting - with the sunny weather certainly helping.

Denton MP Andrew Gwynne and local councillors all dug in to help.

The vast majority of trees have now been planted, although opportunities to sponsor a tree still exist.

There are exciting plans for the future of the green space and you can find out more about those at their website https://www.danebankgreenspace.org/
