A man has been arrested following a foot chase when a member of the public suspected him of trying to steal his car.
Police arrived at Winchester Avenue – just off Lees Road in Ashton – at 8:40am today, where a man held the suspect.
He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of vehicle interference.
“[The] suspected offender was chased onto Winchester Ave and detained by the victim,” said PCSO Ryan Chadwick of the Tameside North Neighbourhood Team.
“Officers have conducted quick CCTVs check which shows the male attempting to break into other vehicles.”
GMP are also appealing for information about someone seen puncturing tyres in Hurst and Waterloo over the past few days.
PCSO Karen Wild said: “The Ashton Neighbourhood Team will be conducting our normal patrols, but we will increase our presence in this area.”
