One arrested after would-be thief targets Newton post office

A man has been arrested after a raid on the post office on Talbot Road, in the Newton area of Hyde, on Thursday.

At around 11am, two men entered the shop, one armed with a knife.

Thankfully, the pair left empty handed and escaped with no injuries reported.

Eyewitnesses reported a police helicopter circling overhead after the incident while dogs were also deployed.

Details of the arrested man have not been released and police say enquiries are ongoing.
