Stalybridge Indoor Sports Centre’s first attempt at staging wrestling attracted a 300-strong crowd which was encouraging enough for the organisers to consider repeating the event.
Male and female wrestlers were featured in the programme with a guest appearance by one of the sport’s most flamboyant characters ‘Mr Magnificent’ Adrian Street, often seen on ITV’s long-running Saturday afternoon show Professional Wrestling.
During the post-contest disco, Adrian presented cups and medals to the winners of a recent five-a-side competition.
