
In 1982, Hattersley High School had struck up a lasting friendship with a school in Denmark.
It was the third year a group from the Esterskolen Ved Nyborg boarding school had spent a week on the estate that was part educational and part holiday.
Seven boys, six girls and a teacher enjoyed sightseeing tours and outings, helped out with voluntary work at Hattersley Community Routes and went shopping in Manchester.
But the highlight was a walk up to Werneth Low - a great viewpoint with the Danish students used to a gentler terrain.
