A new sexual health service provider will be available for Tameside residents to access from Friday (1 April).
Locala Health and Wellbeing, although new to providing sexual health services in Tameside, has provided the service in West Yorkshire for more than 10 years.
They will run the service from the existing provider site at The Orange rooms at Ashton Primary Care Centre on Old Street.
The service is free, and provides confidential advice on all sexual health issues as well as provision of all types of contraception, treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), condoms, and in particular guidance and support for under 18s. The service will provide clinics, and a range of face to face and telephone appointments.
Enquiries for advice can be made by phone on 0161 342 7101, email Orangerooms@locala.org.uk or via www.locala.org.uk/services/sexual-health.
Tameside Council’s Interim Director of Population Health, Debbie Watson, said: “I am pleased that Locala Health and Wellbeing will be providing a high quality sexual health service for local people.
“Having the service based in Ashton-under-Lyne means there is a centrally located service, and there are plans to develop more outreach clinics in the heart of communities for even better access for people living throughout Tameside."
Locala Chief Executive, Karen Jackson, said: “We are delighted to be providing sexual health services in Tameside, meeting local resident’s needs and welcoming our new colleagues to the Locala Team.”
Locala Health and Wellbeing is a member owned, not-for-profit social enterprise that provides NHS community healthcare services.
