Work is continuing to progress on the new male psychiatric intensive care unit in Tameside, which is set to open in July 2022.
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust says the roof and external walls were completed last month, and work is well under way inside the £4.8 million unit at Tameside Hospital.
Clinical services manager Sarah Murphy said: “Our estates' colleagues and construction partners are working really hard to keep the development moving forward.
“We’re looking forward to opening the unit in the summer, so our patients and staff can take full advantage of the brilliant facilities, including a gym, therapy kitchen, garden and activity space.
"Everything has been designed to support an effective and efficient recovery journey for patients.”
When complete, the new unit in Tameside will feature 12 individual en-suite rooms, an activity room, therapy room and a garden.
The current PICU at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport will be developed into a new service for women, which will open in early 2023.
