Tameside Council's executive cabinet has approved a new package for foster carers, with the aim of retaining and increasing the number of quality in-house carers in the borough.
The enhanced deal offers better payments and rewards, additional training and development, and increased support.
Tameside Council’s deputy leader, Cllr Bill Fairfoull, who is responsible for families and children, said: “As an authority we are committed to offering children the best-possible care, and to do that we need the very best foster carers.
“Good foster parents are dedicated and special people.
“We fully understand that if we are to be able to recruit this calibre of carer – the sort who can make such a difference to the children in our care – we have to offer the kind of terms which will not only make them want to come to Tameside but stay with us too.”
