New health centre opens in Clarendon Shopping Centre

Healthy Hyde Primary Care Network opened the doors to their Body and Mind Centre at Clarendon Shopping Centre on Friday, September 22. They will be providing appointments with GPs, mental health nurses and paramedics for residents of Tameside.

The new medical site has 11 clinical rooms which are a modern and bright space. There is also a community kitchen and a state of the art wellbeing space which is open to the public.

A spokesperson for the network said, “ Over the past five years, we have been tirelessly working to offer a range of services that cater to the diverse needs of our patients. We offer a range of unique services such as; Extended Access weekend and evening appointments, an ambulatory care service staffed by 8 paramedics, mental health practitioner appointments, and Musculoskeletal practitioners appointments. In addition, we provide an array of less clinical services, such as our well-being practitioners who work closely with food banks and assist patients with social issues. Furthermore, we also support our refugee and asylum seeker population by providing English lessons, and helping them develop a good understanding of how to access health services.”

The opening attracted many guests such as MP for Hyde and Stalybridge, Jonathan Reynolds and the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Taf Sharif with them both officially opening the new centre.

MP Jonathan Reynolds expressed the importance of the new centre, saying “It’s going to be a significant step forward for public health in Hyde, it's such a fantastic space so I think it will become a major community facility as well. There are some public health challenges here in Tameside but a really good way to tackle those challenges is by offering a service like this.

It’s great news for the town centre as well as it’s going to increase footfall … we’re all delighted.”

Appointments for the Body and Mind Centre can be booked through the GP.
