New food pantry opens in Hyde

Local group, The Power Of Resilience has launched a new community food pantry  based at  The Sunflower Children’s Centre in Hyde.

Today, Friday 5th September 2025 The Power of Resilience CIC turns 3 years old and they took the opportunity to launch their Community Pantry in association with Sunflower Childcare Group to make a real difference to the local community.

Sunflower Childcare Group's Operations Director, Dawn Gibbons told us "It's such a pleasure to welcome everyone here today to officially open our food pantry in partnership with the power of Resilience. It's not just a project, it's a meaningful step forward for Sunflower and our community. At Sunflower, we believe in Elaine's ethos that it takes a village to raise a child. That saying has always guided us, and today we see it come to life.

Because when we come together as a village, we can create a real lasting change, not just for the children, not just for the families, but for individuals across our community. This food pantry represents more than shelves and supplies. It represents hope, dignity, and support. It's a safe space for people to find not only what they need, but also feel strength of a community that cares for them. We are proud to stand side by side with the Power of Resilience, an organisation that shares our vision of lifting people up and making sure that no one feels alone in their time of need

Together, we are committed to support children, families, and the community so that they thrive and not just survive. Today, as we open these doors, we celebrate not only this pantry, but the community spirit that makes it possible.
