New community defibrillator installed in Hyde

A new publicly accessible defibrillator has been installed at the Integrated Service for Children with Additional Needs (ISCAN) in Hyde.

The potentially life-saving device is located outside Rowan House on Grange Road South and is available for community use 24 hours a day in the event of a cardiac emergency.

ISCAN received the defibrillator through a donation from Derbyshire-based company, High Peak Comps.

Dawn Bennett-Painter, of ISCAN, welcomed the installation and said the device would be a valuable addition for local residents, saying:

“ISCAN is located in a residential area of Hyde so it is going to be of great benefit to the community.

“We hope it is never needed but we are grateful to have it for the community to access if required.”

ISCAN is an NHS service providing support for children and young people with additional needs, including speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition and dietetics, and complex-needs nursing.

High Peak Comps has previously donated two £500 Amazon wishlists to ISCAN, which included iPads to assist speech development. This is the 17th defibrillator that the company has installed across Tameside, High Peak, and Stockport.
