Commuters are being advised to avoid the M60 with journey times expected to be extended by an hour.
Following a lorry fire that struck at 10pm last night (Wednesday), junction 23 at Ashton and junction 24 clockwise at Denton have been heavily affected.
Traffic is currently queuing for seven miles.
Emergency services spent the night tackling the fire but motorists are still urged to avoid the area as traffic builds up.
