Motocross rider Tony Shackleton has helped rev up the funds for Denton’s Barnado’s branch.
He participated in the gruelling Skegness beach race at the weekend to help bring in more than £500 for the charity.
The Skegness beach race has grown into one of the largest off-road events in the UK over the last 12 years and attracts huge crowds with various races for solos, quads and sidecars.
Saturday’s race saw Tony competing for an hour and a half across a tough course to finish 68th out of 160 riders.
On Sunday he was in action again, racing for two and a half hours.
Nadine Quirk, who is the manager of the Denton Barnado’s shop on Stockport Road, said: “It is a super hard race. One of our team Tony took part for us in the sponsored beach race.”
Members of the Barnado team attended to cheer Tony on on both days, shaking buckets on the side of the track raising money for the charity.
In total £538.83 was raised.
