There will be a right royal celebration in Mossley this summer.
As well as residents’ plans to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, Mossley will be celebrating the crowning of their own queen.
St George’s Church has announced that their new Church Rose Queen for 2022-2023 will be Christina Berry (pictured), who will be crowned in June.
Christina, aged 11, attends the Blue Coat School in Oldham and has been part of the congregation of St George’s Church all her life.
Christina follows her two older sisters, Rebekah and Stephanie, in being Rose Queen at St George’s.
Her cousin, Charlotte, her mum Wendy and her auntie Debbie have also been Rose Queens at St George’s. When Rebekah was queen, her cousin Elliott Mellor was in her retinue.
Christina will be crowned at 2pm on Saturday 18 June by Ms Nicola Shore, who has herself been Brownie Queen of St George’s when she was younger.
Christina’s retinue will be sisters Abigail and Izabel Partington and Freya Thorp.
