Mayor Recognises Fundraisers Anniversary

Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Shibley Alam and her consort, Mr. Mohammed Khairul Alam, invited volunteers from Hyde Fundraisers to the Mayors Parlour on Wednesday January 21st.

Amongst the volunteers were one of the groups founding members, Andrew Crombie from Hyde, who built several props in the early 1990’s including two full size Daleks. One of his Daleks featured in the season finale of last years Dr Who series in a flashback to a Jon Pertwee adventure from the 1970’s. Other members included Cheryl Revell from Ashton who has created some of costumes for the group and Melanie Broughton from Gee Cross who has been involved over 20 years. Another guest was robot BB8 created by volunteer Pete Brocklehurst from Godley.

The mayor praised the organisation and the work of the volunteers presenting a certificate of appreciation for all the support they have given since 1985 to various good causes.

The groups next event is a Character Curry night on February 17th at the Indian Plaza in Audenshaw. They have also announced that they will be back for this years Sci Fi Day in Ashton on May 2nd.
