A Tameside man has been served a jail sentence after police discovered drugs disguised in pizza boxes.

Two days before Christmas, police officers raided the Market Street, Hollingworth address of Simon Tennant, 39.  

They seized 2.4 kilos of cocaine and half a kilo of ketamine. Nine pizza boxes also contained nine kilos of cutting agent to dilute the drugs.  

On July 2, Tennant faced the Minshull Street Crown Court, pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply ketamine and possession of criminal property. He has received a jail sentence of eight and a half years.  

Detective Constable Jake Orr of Greater Manchester Police’s Tameside Challenger Team said: “This is all part of our on-going commitment to tackling drugs and the distribution of them across Greater Manchester and clearly this find was a substantial one. 

"Tennant was clearly making a profit from the desperation of those who become reliant on class A drugs, and we will continue to do all we can to remove offenders such as Tennant from our towns and cities. 

"There is always a lot of work going on across GMP even though some of it may not be visible - but we would always continue to ask communities to come forward with any information that may assist us with our investigations.
