A man in his 60s is in hospital after being seriously injured in an attack in Hollingworth on Thursday evening (April 9).
It happened on Market Street in the village at around 7.45pm.
Greater Manchester Police say they were called to reports that someone had been assaulted and that the victim, believed to be in his 60s, had been taken to hospital.
The man's condition is not thought to be critical.
It is understood no arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing.
A police cordon was in place close to the New Inn pub and the entrance to Highfield Gardens.
