Police have charged a man with section 18 assault and possession of a bladed article after a stabbing in Droylsden.
At around 4am on Sunday 13 August 2023, officers from GMP’s Tameside district saw what appeared to be two men fighting near the Metrolink stop on Market Street.
It was later established that a man had been stabbed. The victim was taken to hospital to get treatment for his injuries which were not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.
Michael Hughes, 39, of Market Street, Droylsden was arrested and subsequently charged with section 18 assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He was appeared at Tameside Magistrates on Monday 14 August 2023 and has been remanded into custody. His next appearance is at Manchester Crown Court, Minshull Street, on Monday 18 September 2023.
Officers believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.
