A 51-year-old man has been charged after a police officer was assaulted whilst responding to an incident where a suspected explosive device was found at a house in Droylsden.
Anthony Lece, of West Bank in Manchester, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker.
He has been bailed to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court on 16 July.
The officer was assaulted whilst putting a cordon in place on Fairfield Road, as bomb disposal officers were at the scene of a possible explosive device that had been found on Friday evening (June 19).
The officer suffered cuts and bruises whilst trying to ensure the safety of the public and local residents, according to Greater Manchester Police's Tameside North and East team.
Emergency services were called at around 8pm before the road was closed and residents were evacuated.
A bomb disposal van was seen arriving at around 10pm.
It was confirmed at around 12.31am that the suspicious item wasn't an explosive, evacuated residents had returned to their homes and the road closures had been lifted.
The incident on Fairfield Road this evening has now ended. The suspicious items were NOT explosives. Evacuated residents are now able to return home. Road closures have been lifted.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "Shortly after 8pm on Friday 19 June, police were called to Fairfield Road, Droylsden, to reports that a suspicious item had been found at a property.
"Bomb disposal officers attended to make an assessment of the suspicious item. The item was not found to be viable.
"Nearby buildings were evacuated, however residents have since been allowed to return to their homes and the scene has been closed."
Angela Rayner, MP for Droylsden, thanked the emergency services for their response in a tweet.
Thankfully the incident has now ended.On inspection by the bomb disposal unit the items of concern were found not to be explosives.

The residents who were evacuated are now able to return to their homes.
