A man is being questioned by detectives on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman in her 20s was found at a flat in Ashton.
Greater Manchester Police said they were called shortly before 9.15am on Thursday morning (25 August) following the discovery of the body at a property on Manchester Road.
A 51-year-old man arrived at a local police station a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.
The victim's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has said.
Investigators are "keeping an open mind" as enquiries continue at the scene but "are confident we are not looking for any other suspects at this time".

Detective Chief Inspector Liam Boden, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: “This is truly shocking news for this young woman’s loved ones to receive today, and we are committed to doing all we can to support her family and to get them the answers they deserve.
“We have one man in custody after he came in to Ashton police station very shortly after the incident was reported to us; he is now being questioned on suspicion of her murder.
“While this appears to have been a contained incident where the suspect was known to the victim, we want to ensure all possible lines of enquiry are explored and therefore anyone with information should get in touch.”
Anyone who may have information is encouraged to contact police to aid the investigation.
Information should be passed on by calling GMP's Major Incident room on 0161 856 6777, quoting incident 763 of 25/08/2022.
Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
