A man has been arrested after people were allegedly 'fighting' with machetes on a street in the Haughton Green area of Denton.
It happened on Wordsworth Road on Thursday evening (June 25).
It is understood that nobody was injured.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of public order (affray) and remains in custody.
Initial reports suggested that a firearm was involved but police say there's no evidence of this being the case and are working to establish if any other weapons may have been involved.
Eyewitnesses say there was a heavy emergency service response in the area and people were "running around" and "fighting" with the weapons.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 8.50pm on Thursday 26 June 2020 to reports of a disturbance on Wordsworth Road in Denton.
"A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of public order (affray) and remains in custody.
"No injuries have been reported to police."
