Man, 40, dies after being hit by car in Ashton

Serious collision investigators from Greater Manchester Police are carrying out enquiries after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on Stockport Road in Ashton at around 11:55pm on Wednesday, April 24.

Sadly, the 40-year-old man died later in hospital. His next of kin has been informed.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and a second man, aged 23, later handed himself in and was also arrested on suspicion of the same crime.

Both suspects have been released on bail pending further investigations.
