The Clarendon Square branch of Lloyds Bank in Hyde will close later this year, it has been announced.
The bank, inside the shopping centre at Clarendon Place in the town centre, will permanently shut on Wednesday 21 June.
It's understood that staff, who were informed on Thursday (19 January), will be redeployed and there won't be any redundancies.
Following the closure, the nearest Lloyds branches will be on Old Street in Ashton and at the Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport.
Lloyds say the decision was reached after an "in-depth review" and as more customers are choosing to do most of their everyday banking online. Customers can also continue to carry out many transactions at the Post Office.
Jonathan Reynolds, Labour MP for Hyde, said he was "pretty angry" to learn the news, adding: "Frankly I'm absolutely fed up with these decisions being presented to long-term customers as a fete accomplis without so much as query as to how local traders and vulnerable customers will be affected."
