A community campaign involving cleaning up Ashton Canal is celebrating 50 years since its inception.
ASHTAC is a campaign by The Canal and Rivers Trust, Inland Waterways Association and Tameside Canal Boat Trust to give Ashton Canal the spring cleaning it needs.
It comes 50 years after the original ‘Ashton Attack’ which saw 2,000 tonnes of waste removed from the canal in just two days.
