It might be a long way to Tipperary - but it most certainly isn't to the exciting Foodie Friday in Stalybridge!
On Friday (23 July), the town is all set to become a little corner of the Continent, offering residents and visitors a unique chance to relax at the end of a busy week while enjoying new and familiar flavours, taking in the historic and picturesque canalside surroundings, and enjoying some entertainment in the company of friends and family.
Councillor Eleanor Wills, a Dukinfield-Stalybridge ward member who is leading the project for Tameside Council, said: “Foodie Friday is a new and exciting feel-good gathering that’s certain to put Stalybridge firmly on Greater Manchester’s food and drink map.
“It’s a unique social event which will appeal to all ages by offering a continental-style street market event right in the heart of the beautiful surroundings of our historic town, Stalybridge.
“With food, drink and entertainment, Foodie Friday promises an enjoyable and relaxed night out with family and friends. Come and join us. I’m sure you’ll love it.”
We spoke to Councillor Wills recently, who told us more about the event.
Stalybridge Foodie Friday, which has been organised in partnership with the Market Co, takes place on the second Friday of every month (5-9pm).
It will feature around a dozen traders supplying a wide range of food and drink to suit all tastes, and against a background of live entertainment.
Toilets will be available on site, where there will also be security present.
The road around Armentieres Square will also be closed between 4pm and 9.30pm.
