Hyde garden ready to open to the public

A beautiful garden in Hyde opens its gates to the public for the first time on Sunday (30 May).

The terraced garden was created by the owner’s late husband Harry Nicholson over many years.

Now Anne Dickinson is remembering Harry through opening the garden for charity under the National Garden Scheme.

The garden on Mottram Old Road is on several levels with far reaching views over Manchester and the Pennines.

The woodland area features ponds and a waterfall, and it has many Acers and Rhododendrons and leads to a vegetable garden and work area.

You can book tickets in advance on the National Garden Scheme website, or buy them on the day.

Entrance costs £5, children free. Home made teas will be available.
