Hyde Community Day returns with family fun planned

Hyde Market will come alive this Saturday as Hyde Community Day returns with a packed programme of family entertainment, live performances, and activities celebrating the local community.

The free event takes place at Hyde Market Hall from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, October 3rd, following the successful launch of the community day in July.

The July event brought hundreds of people into Hyde for a day celebrating the organisations, charities, and community groups that help make a difference across the town.

The launch featured a wide range of activities and entertainment, including face painting, martial arts demonstrations, dancing, and a Lego display, while local organisations had the opportunity to meet residents and showcase the work they do in the community.

Now the event is back — and organisers have promised another fun-filled day for families.

Among the headline attractions will be R2-D2 from Star Wars and an ape from Planet of the Apes, both making appearances as roaming characters.

Children can also enjoy free face painting, while there will be music and entertainment throughout the day.

Sitsiam Camp will be returning to showcase the martial arts talents of its students, giving visitors the chance to see demonstrations from the young performers.

There will also be live music in Hyde Market Hall, while Prime Active Communities will provide live music performances on the square.

The event will also bring together a number of community organisations, giving residents the chance to find out more about the support and activities available locally.

Among those attending will be The Grafton Centre, Prime Active Communities, the Anthony Seddon Fund, and Tameside Little Gems.

The return of Hyde Community Day comes as organisers look to build on the community spirit generated by July's launch.

This Saturday's event promises a similar mix of community, entertainment and family fun, with the added attraction of some familiar faces from the worlds of science fiction and film. There should be something to suit all ages.

Hyde Community Day takes place at Hyde Market Hall on Saturday, October 3, from 11am to 3pm. Entry is free.
