Several members of Tameside Hospital's security team are aiming to raise at least £1,000 for the Trust’s Children’s Unit.
They will tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on September 2 and hope to complete the 24-mile course inside 12 hours.
In that time, they’ll gain more than 1,500 metres of altitude as they scale the famous fells of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The walk’s organiser, Carl Beresford, says all funds will go towards upgrading the sensory room at the Children’s Unit.
“[Tameside Hospital] have been thinking about modernising their sensory room, which is a specially designed room that combines a range of stimuli to help babies, infants and children develop and engage their senses.
“These can include lights, colours, sounds, sensory soft play resources and aromas, all used within a safe environment that allows the person using it to explore and interact without risk.
“We totally believe whatever we raise will be put to fantastic use on the children’s ward.”
They are already over halfway towards their initial fundraising target, and you can donate at their GoFundMe page.
