Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club has announced its latest campaign.
Wrap Up Tameside is part of the wider Wrap Up UK initiative whose sole aim is to collect winter coats for distribution to charities supporting people across the UK who struggle to keep warm during the winter months.
The local campaign runs this month with all the coats collected by the club being donated to Tameside Women’s Centre and local homeless projects.
Coats must be warm and suitable for winter. They can be dropped off at collections boxes at Ashton Golf Club, situated on Gorsey Way, and Lower Mossley Sub Post Office on Manchester Road.
Rotary would like to say a special thank you to Sue Kitchen (head teacher at Stalyhill Junior School) for agreeing to have her school participate in the campaign by encouraging pupils to drop off winter coats at school.
President Ian Cochrane said: “This is another example of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club engaging with the local community whilst making a positive impact on the lives of people in our neighbourhoods.
“I have for some time been linking up with the Women’s Centre to help some of the families the centre supports and realised last year that lots of their families are in desperate need of a winter coat. This project will be a great help to keep so many people warm this winter.”
