Andrew Gwynne, MP for Gorton & Denton, has welcomed the King's Speech, delivered by King Charles at yesterday's state opening of Parliament.
The King’s Speech, the first under a Labour government for more than 14 years, outlined the new government’s legislative programme for this parliamentary session.
The speech delivered a number of notable new bills, including a Budget Responsibility Bill to deliver economic security, a bill to bring our railways back under public control, and fundamental reform of the Mental Health Act.
Gwynne said: “I thank His Majesty for coming to Parliament, and warmly welcome the contents of his speech, the first under a Labour government for over 14 years.
“After 14 years of Conservative chaos, we have wasted no time in getting down to work delivering for the British people.
“On the economy, health, transport, and much more, we have a highly ambitious agenda, that will make a fundamental difference to people’s lives in Manchester, Tameside, and across the country.”
