Community group appeal for volunteers as they organise their next event
Friends of the Tame Valley, which was formed with the help of Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne, hosts a number of regular events in and around the Tame Valley.
Their next will be this Sunday and is being organised by FoTV committee member Steve Martin. The aim will be to clear up litter and debris around the riverbank at the Upper Haughton and Whittles Meadows.
The MP said: "Helping to found Friends of the Tame Valley is one of my proudest achievements of the last few years. We've cleared invasive species of weeds, secured funding for Valley improvements, and shifted bags of litter from our precious green spaces.
"This would have been impossible without the help of dedicated volunteers giving up their time for their local community.
"We're always looking for more people to get involved, so if you want to give a helping hand please do come along to Sunday's event."
Those wishing to attend Sunday's event are encouraged to meet at the bottom of Fairlea (satnav: M34 6EH) at 9am and to bring wellies if possible (although welly-free jobs are available!)
