Residents can stay hydrated for free while helping to reduce single-use plastic bottles thanks to a network of 40 water refill stations across the borough.
With hot weather forecast, the refill stations offer an easy way for everyone to stay hydrated while out and about.
Part of the national Refill initiative, the scheme encourages people to carry and refill reusable water bottles, helping to reduce plastic waste, save money and support healthier communities.
There are currently 40 refill stations located throughout Tameside in community venues and businesses. The stations are open to anyone who needs a drinking water top-up while out and about.
Visitors simply need to bring a bottle, ideally a reusable one, and ask for a refill. Refill stations can be identified by the official Refill window sticker displayed at participating venues.
Tameside Council First Deputy and Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing Cllr Michael Smith said: "Our refill stations are a simple way for people to stay hydrated while helping to protect the environment. With 40 locations across Tameside, it's easier than ever for residents, workers and visitors to access free drinking water."
The initiative supports the council's priorities around creating cleaner and greener communities while helping residents make healthier lifestyle choices.
Businesses and community organisations are also being encouraged to get involved and become part of the growing refill network. Joining the scheme is free and can help reduce waste while supporting local people and visitors.
Any business interested in becoming a refill station can contact refill@tameside.gov.uk for more information.
