Foodie Friday will make a return to Stalybridge this week (13 August) after the last event proved to be a huge success.
Taking place on the 2nd Friday of every month, Foodie Friday welcomes worldwide cuisines, plentiful drink options and live entertainment. These together create a warming atmosphere, bringing people together after so long kept apart.
The event has been organised by Tameside Council’s markets service in partnership with artisan market organisers The Market Co and promises to be even better this time around.
Hundreds turned out to the last occasion, filling Armentieres Square with smiles and curiosity as visitors explored the various stalls offering everything from pizza to paella, ice-cream to pancakes and beer to wine.
Organisers say they plan to close off the road much earlier to position traders in the road itself, providing much more space for any queues. This will also accommodate those with disabled access and pushchairs.

Tameside Council also said, “We will increase the number of streetfood vendors, providing even more delicious choices, and all vendors will have extra staff to help ease the demand.
“There will be far better provision for drinks, with an extended main bar and an additional one, as well as coffee, tea and soft drinks.
“The seating area will flow to both sides of the canal and we will bring in additional bins so you are able to dispose of your own rubbish rather than leaving it on the tables or floor for us to clear away (this will help us a lot!)
“We will hire in additional portaloos, get the streetlights working and make this the very best Foodie Friday ever! Here’s to the next one, thank you.”
You're invited to come on down to Foodie Friday, have fun and see Stalybridge transform into a bustling town.
