Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire at a HSBC bank building on Stamford Street in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Road closures at the junction with Mill Lane remain in place at this time.
The bank's customer service counter is already closed due to the declining demand for over-the-counter transactions, with the rest of the branch earmarked for total closure this August.
In a tweet posted by the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, those living nearby have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed.
