The family of 45-year-old Garrick Bates have paid tribute to a proud former army sergaent and father.
The body of Garrick (pictured) was found on Sand Street in Stalybridge on Friday.
Daryl Master, 24, of Old Road, Dukinfield, has been charged with his murder and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Monday).
Paying tribute to Garrick, his family said in a statement: "He was proud as punch of his 23 years’ service in the army where he was a Master Armoury Sergeant.
"He was a big Manchester United fan, and loved his motor biking and pet dogs.
"He was a loud, jolly, bubbly and sociable man who enjoyed spending his time with friends and family.
"Garrick leaves behind a family - mum, dad, two children, two stepchildren and his three brothers.
"The family would like to thank everyone for their kind comments so far and at this time and would respect some privacy."
