The Trust Board at Fairfield High School for Girls have shared that they are 'immensely proud' of their pupils' achievements, in terms of both attainment and progress. 83% of all grades achieved were Grade 4 or above.
They said: "As an academically ambitious school, where supporting each individual pupil to achieve their dreams regardless of background or starting point, we, the Trust Board and staff, are delighted to announce that Fairfield’s Class of 2023 have achieved outstanding GCSE and Vocational Course results.
"This morning, as pupils received their results, there were lots of smiling faces, happy families and lots of tears…..for good reasons! The atmosphere was amazing and it was really very pleasing to see such a celebration.
"This year, Ofqual told us that following the pandemic, they were bringing results back in line with 2019 outcomes, with many schools expecting a drop in grades as a result.
"We are incredibly proud to report, therefore, that our number of Grade 9s at GCSE level have more than doubled since 2019 and are even better than in 2022! Over 100 Grade 9s were achieved across the curriculum."
Overall, 36% of grades achieved by Fairfield pupils were Grade 7+ (or equivalent), which is also an increase on both 2019 and 2022 results.
In addition, the proportion of pupils achieving the headline measure of a Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths has also increased since 2019.
Mrs Stephanie Bateman, Headteacher at Fairfield High School for Girls commented "Pupils worked incredibly hard to achieve these results. There is no substitute for hard work and we are so proud of what they have accomplished, along with the vital support of their parents/carers for which we are indebted. Fairfield staff have ensured that a knowledge-rich and well-sequenced curriculum, outstanding teaching quality and first-class intervention and support before school, during the school day, after school and in the holidays has resulted in these exceptionally high results. I am simply thrilled!
"Pupils were overjoyed today and can move on to the next step of their learning journey, with a strong set of results. This evidences their achievements at Fairfield and complements the personal development they have experienced as part of the Fairfield community.
"Well done Team Fairfield! Everyone is to be congratulated on their input into these results whatever their role in school. I am indebted to everyone’s efforts and very appreciative of the extra mile that Fairfield staff go every day."
