Fairfield Girls celebrates success as top GCSE grades soar

Fairfield High School for Girls is celebrating 98 Grade 9 or equivalent results alongside exceptional Maths success and improving outcomes across its community.

From a rise in the very highest grades to Maths results well above the national picture for girls, there was plenty to celebrate at Fairfield High School for Girls as the Class of 2026 opened their GCSE results. 

Pupils achieved an impressive 98 Grade 9 or equivalent results, up from 85 last year, while more than 80% of all grades were Grade 4 or equivalent and above. More than three in every five grades were at Grade 5 or above and 87% of pupils achieved a pass in English Language. 

Maths provided one of the day’s biggest success stories. Fourteen pupils achieved a Grade 9, representing 7% of the cohort and more than double the 2025 national average of 3.3% for female pupils. 

The success continued in Further Maths, where another three Grade 9s were achieved. This year, 31 pupils chose to take Further Maths as an additional qualification, dedicating their own time to attending optional after-school sessions throughout the year. 

Among the pupils celebrating exceptional individual results was Olive Moody, who achieved eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8 alongside a Grade 7 in Further Maths. 

Elin Di Paola secured seven Grade 9s and two Grade 8s while Imaan Ali achieved six Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and a Grade 9 in Further Maths. 

There were plenty of other proud pupils sharing their excitement as they opened their results and looked ahead to their next steps. 

Tayyaba will progress to Ashton Sixth Form College to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.

She said: “I’m over the moon with my results. I didn’t expect to do so well and I’m unbelievably proud of myself. I’m really looking forward to going to Ashton Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.” 

Robyn is also heading to Ashton Sixth Form College where she will study Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. 

She said: “I’m really happy with my results, especially my Music and Maths grades. I’m excited to go to Ashton Sixth Form where I’ll be studying Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths.” 

Rosie achieved an outstanding six Grade 9s and three Grade 8s and will go on to study History, English Literature and French. 

She said: “I’m really pleased with my results, especially History and French. I worked hard for them and it’s great to see that work pay off.” 

Fairfield pupils also demonstrated their ambition by choosing to study additional language qualifications alongside their other subjects. 

Fung Lok Pui, Choi Hannah and Cao Jessica each achieved a Grade 9 in Chinese. Aljasim Zukaa achieved a Grade 9 in Turkish and Hemidan Yasmin secured a Grade 9 in Arabic. 

Nawaz Mahnoor achieved a Grade 6 in Urdu while Sani Raja Maheen secured a Grade 6 in Spanish. 

Lamyae Ouchatti Zeggoud deserves a special mention after choosing to take Arabic, Spanish and Further Maths alongside her other subjects, completing a significantly larger examination programme than most of her peers. She achieved a Grade 8 in Arabic and a Grade 6 in Spanish. 

There were also strong performances across Religious Studies, Science, Drama, English Literature, Design and Technology and History. 

The school is particularly proud that attainment for disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND has improved again this year, building on the progress made in 2025 and reflecting Fairfield’s commitment to enabling every pupil to achieve her very best.

“Our pupils have achieved excellent outcomes that reflect not only their dedication, hard work and strong learning habits but also the determination, resilience and ambition they have developed throughout their time at Fairfield. 

“These results are the product of a collective effort across the school community, with pupils, staff, parents and carers and governors all working together towards the shared goal of enabling every pupil to achieve her very best. 

“We look forward to seeing our pupils take their next steps with confidence and anticipation, knowing that behind every grade is a young person who has grown in character, developed valuable life skills and demonstrated real commitment in pursuing her very best.

“Cohort 2026, congratulations on all that you have achieved! We are incredibly proud of each of you and of the contribution you have made to our school community.
