Hyde-based Sandwich Angels are appealing for people to make an Easter donation of a different kind this year.
The not-for-profit community group, run entirely by volunteers, initially started out making sandwiches for the homeless but has significantly widened its remit to help families and all those most in need, delivering food packages across the area.
Now founder Christina Howard is asking people if they will donate just one item of food to the group rather than an Easter egg.
She said: “We have a tough decision - we would like to receive Easter eggs to give away but believe food items are more important this year.
“So, if possible, if anyone is thinking of donating one egg, even a small one, please can you donate a food item - even one tin, instead.
“We are always short of items like longlife milk, tea, coffee, tinned food, fresh fruit and veg and other essentials - plus hygiene products.”
If you can help by making a donation, you can text the Sandwich Angels on 0771 3973640 or you can email sandwichangelsgroup@hotmail.com
The group operates seven days a week between the hours of 9am and 9pm.
EASTER MESSAGE: Sandwich Angels’ founder Christina Howard has created this cartoon to help promote the group’s seasonal appeal for food items rather than Easter eggs this year.
