Following multiple reports from the public about males in balaclavas riding e-bikes dangerously across Denton and Hyde, Neighbourhood Officers have taken swift and decisive action.
A total of three high powered e-bikes, valued at approximately £8,000, have now been seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. These bikes will be sent for destruction and the riders prosecuted.
Greater Manchester Police Officers detained five males in connection with the incidents. One individual was also found to be in possession of controlled substances and appropriate action is being taken.
Reports from the general public make a real difference. By sharing information with GMP, you help keep Tameside’s streets safer for everyone.
If you witness anti-social or dangerous behaviour, please continue to report it via 101, Crimestoppers, or 999 in an emergency.
