Droylsden man jailed for spate of offences

A 32-year-old man from Droylsden has been sentenced to nine months in prison for a spate of offences, including shoplifting and possessing cocaine and a bladed article.

Oliver Mountfield, of Hawthorn Road South, appeared at Stockport Magistrates Court this morning (Friday) having been charged with nine offences.

These are three counts of theft from a vehicle, two counts of vehicle interference, one count of shoplifting, possessing a Class A drug (cocaine), possessing a bladed article, and intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

Mountfield was sentenced to six months in prison but, after also being subject to a three-month suspended sentence handed to him on March 27, he was given a nine-month sentence in total.

Sergeant Stephanie O'Brien, of Greater Manchester Police's Tameside District Tasking Team, said: "Mountfield is a prolific offender who has been causing a lot of harm to the people of Tameside over recent months.

"Today's court result makes the hard work carried out by my team of officers very worthwhile and satisfying.

"I would like to personally thank the two members of public who detained Mountfield on Wednesday night (April 15) following his spree of offending."
