The front door of a house on Byron Avenue in Droylsden was set alight during the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the address to deal with the fire shortly before 12:35am (Monday 10 June 2019.)
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "The fire was extinguished by the fire service but has caused significant damage to the door and porch.
"An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
According to the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, three fire-engines attended the blaze, which is understood to have been started using an accelerant.
