A councillor campaigning against fly-tipping has warned that he will “name and shame” business owners if they dump rubbish on his patch.
Kaleel Khan, an independent who represents the Ashton St Peter’s ward, said that volunteers fighting against litter louts discovered waste dumped on Burlington Street this week was from a business in Longsight.
“Our community-led CCTV has identified the offenders. I’ve reported this to both Tameside Council and Manchester City Council.
“My volunteers and I will be visiting the business owner – don’t even think about littering our streets when we’re working so hard to keep them clean, especially from outside the area. We will name and shame!”
St Peter's has seen a dramatic drop in fly-tipping in recent months, with Cllr Khan being made a Litter Hub Champion in September by the nearby Holy Trinity Community Centre.
