A mum from Denton is one of the faces of Macmillan’s Christmas ‘Thank You’ campaign.
Kimberley Jones was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2018, just two days before her 36th birthday. Her daughter was aged just two at the time.
Kimberley underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy at the Tameside Macmillan Unit, where patients can access cancer treatment as well as support, therapies and counselling.
Now, she’s the Greater Manchester face of Macmillan’s Christmas Thank You social media campaign, where patients from across the UK are filmed thanking the Macmillan professionals who supported them.
Kimberley said: “From the moment I was diagnosed on December 6 to my mastectomy on December 29 and onwards through my chemotherapy, I was supported and looked after in every possible way by the incredible Macmillan nurses and staff at the Tameside Macmillan Unit at Tameside Hospital.
“I didn’t know what to expect but I was greeted by Macmillan nurses who every single time made me feel so much less anxious about what I was about to go through. They took the time to get to know me and would always make me a brew and put me at ease and make me feel so, so welcome.
“I cannot thank the Tameside Macmillan Unit enough for everything they did for me and my family.”
Kimberley raised £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through a raffle at a recent fundraising disco she organised at Denton Labour Club.
