An annual community fun day has resumed for the first time since the pandemic.
Ashton MP Angela Rayner was among the special guests who joined the Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Mike Glover and local councillors for a day of fun in the sun at the St Peter’s Community Gathering Family Fun Day in Oxford Park on Sunday.
Various organisations and community groups came together to organise stalls, food and games for local residents at the annual event - the first that could be held due to Covid.
The traditional summer fun day is organised to help provide families with a totally free afternoon of activities for children so they don’t have to worry about added expenses.
Angela said: “It was great to see the entire St Peter’s community joining forces to enjoy some much-needed fun in the sun.
“I would like to thank all of the organisers for making the event such a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces.”
Cllr Joyce Bowerman added: “We had beautiful sunshine for our St Peter’s Community Gathering Family Fun Day in Oxford Park and what a great afternoon we all had!
“It was a fantastic community event and everyone had such a good time. We had stalls, a bouncy castle, assault course, climbing wall, face-painting etc.
“Many thanks to our very hard working volunteers who helped to make the day such a success.”
