Celebrate Heritage Month at Tameside Local Studies and Archives

September marks the beginning of Heritage Month, and Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre is proud to present a programme of events that celebrate our local history and the diverse stories that shape it.

All talks will be held at Tameside Local Studies & Archives Centre, Cotton Street East, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 7BY, and are also available to attend virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Voices of Kosovo in Manchester
Presented by Voices of Kosovo in Manchester (VOKIM), this inspiring talk explores the creation of a post-conflict oral history archive. Hear moving stories from Kosovo refugees who rebuilt their lives in Manchester and Tameside.

Discover Longdendale Miniature Castle
Join Keith Warrender as he uncovers the story of one of Cheshire’s least known landmarks near Mottram. From hat-making to tunnels and even links to the Natural History Museum, this talk reveals the surprising history of a unique castle and its colourful occupants.
