Police have moved to reassure residents that there has been no spike in car thefts on an estate in Tameside.
Social media posts reporting an increase in cars being stolen on the St Albans estate in Ashton are false, according to GMP.
“The last vehicle offence, which was 2 x theft of motor vehicles was back at the beginning of September and there have not been anymore reported from the St Albans estate since then,” said PCSO Helen Brockett, who is part of the Neighbourhood Team covering Ashton Hurst.
However, she also said that there had been two burglaries in the area during November.
“The Neighbourhood Team just wanted to reassure residents on the estate...that if there are any crimes that we feel residents need to know about that we will inform them via Bee in the Loop, Facebook or in person.
“We would also like to stress the importance of reporting any offences to the Police as we know at this time of year burglary and vehicle crime typically rises.”
