Residents in part of Dukinfield were without water for much of Sunday, October 13 after a water pipe burst on Tennyson Road.
The issue caused homes in the area to have either no water or low water pressure from around 8am.
Engineers from United Utilities (UU) worked for seven hours to fix the problem, with tankers on-site to provide fresh water to locals while their taps were running dry.
“It may take up to two hours for your water pressure to return to normal,” said a statement on UU’s website at 3:24pm. “You may also experience some discolouration to your water, this is due to the repair work on the pipe and should clear after a short time.
“Sorry for the disruption, thanks again for your patience.”
The company have also reminded residents in Tameside to prepare for potential sub-zero temperatures this winter by insulating any exposed pipes.
This can include those in garages, lofts or outside your home, with lagging helping to stave off frozen or burst pipes that could cause floods.
