Ashton's Street Life a huge success !

Thousands turned out yesterday for the first ever 'Street Life' event in Ashton Under Lyne.

Even the rain didn’t stop the event yesterday, the town centre was buzzing late into the night, every car parking space was taken and the good times and feeling were back. There weren’t just people from Ashton in town yesterday, they came from all over.

We caught up with Andy Kleek CEO of Monopoly Events and organiser of Ashton's Street Life event, who says......

To get so many messages from businesses who benefited from the footfall was fantastic, and amazing to hear. I’ve never personally seen Ashton so busy even thinking back to the 90s, and from what I’m hearing even going back to war times, the town hasn’t seen footfall like that, so thank you to all those who attended to make that happen.

Thank you to everyone that worked the event, to the traders, staff and volunteers. I’ve woke up around midday today and my inboxes are flooded with well wishes and genuine excitement of what the future now holds for this wonderful old market town. I’ve read every single comment over the last couple of hours and it’s literally left me with a tear in my eye, there are some amazing people who want change in Tameside, and it’s made me more confident than ever with that task which I have given myself.
