Ashton RBL Branch members part of historic Queen's funeral

Four members of the Ashton-under-Lyne Branch of the Royal British Legion were in London on Monday (19 September) for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The RBL formed a guard of honour at the Cenotaph as the Queen's coffin was taken from Westminster Abbey to Windsor Castle.

Branch President David Brown and Branch member John Thornhill were Parade Marshals and Branch Chairman Scott Pringle and Branch member Chelsea Egerton were Carrying Standards.

They were watched by literally billions of people on television around the globe as the funeral procession passed by.

Well done to them all for performing their duties honourably on a poignant and historic day for our country.
