Ashton Old Baths team keep Tameside tidy with a litter pick

Staff from businesses based in Ashton Old Baths took part in a litter pick to tidy up their local area.

The team cleaned up the St Peter’s area of Ashton-under-Lyne, where the digital business hub is based, on 30 April. They worked with Tameside Council’s Portland Basin Litter Hub, who loaned equipment and hi-vis jackets.

The Ashton Old Baths residents worked together to give back to the community during their lunch break, strengthening their sense of unity and supporting each other. The initiative allowed them to take pride in their surroundings and was a reminder of what can be achieved by pulling together.

There are free litter hubs in community spaces across Tameside’s towns, which anyone can visit and get involved with.

Individuals or groups can book free equipment via a local hub, including hi-vis jackets, litter pickers, and black bags. The hub will then arrange for your rubbish to be disposed of appropriately.

The litter hubs support the upkeep of the borough and protect the environment, aiming to develop civic pride and involve the whole community in helping to keep Tameside litter-free.

Tameside Council’s Strategic Director of Housing, Environment & Estates, Julian Jackson said: “It’s incredible to see the local business community working with us to tidy and take care of local areas.

“Thank you to the Ashton Old Baths team for your hard work in ensuring we can be proud of where we live.

“I really encourage other businesses, community groups, and individuals to get on board and help us look after our neighbourhoods. Our street cleaning teams work hard every day, but we can all play a part in keeping our streets free from litter.”

The Our Streets campaign highlights that keeping our neighbourhoods clean, safe, and welcoming is a shared responsibility.
